Chromebook Annual Usage Fee

The Carlstadt-East Rutherford Regional High School District (Henry P. Becton Regional H.S.) recognizes that with the implementation of the 1:1 Chromebook Initiative there is a need to protect the investment for the district.

An annual fee of $20 will be collected to offset the cost of warranty, the accidental damage protection, and the cost of the protective Chromebook carrying case. In cases of theft, vandalism, or other criminal acts, a police report, or in the case of fire, a fire report must be filled by the parent or guardian. A copy of this report must be submitted to school administration before the Chromebook can be repaired or replaced. A student making a false report will be subject to disciplinary action.

The Chromebook annual fee does not cover for loss of the Chromebook and/or its accessories, cosmetic damage, or damages caused by intentional misuse and abuse. Administration will assess the Chromebook damage and repair or replace the device if the damage is determined to be accidental. Parents or guardians may be charged for full replacement cost ($400) of a device that has been lost or damaged due to intentional misuse or abuse.

If a student’s enrollment is terminated from Henry P. Becton Regional High School for any reason, the Chromebook must be returned. There are no refunds once this agreement becomes active on the date the Chromebook is issued.
