The Road Back to Becton Covid-19 Health Update

January 22, 2021

Dear Becton Regional High School community:

Happy Friday!

I hope this email finds you remaining healthy and safe. I am writing to inform you that we were recently informed that two members of our Wildcat family tested positive for Covid-19, two others are presumed positive, and all are recovering well at home. Only one of the individuals has been in the school building during the day. By the time you receive this correspondence, all school-related close contacts have already been identified and notified to quarantine/isolate. Since none of the cases are not due to an epidemiologically linked school-based transmission of the virus, there is no change to our school schedule at this time.

As always, thank you for continuing to take proactive steps to mitigate the spread of the virus and helping us to keep our school doors opened.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND AND, AS ALWAYS, THINK POSITIVE, STAY POSITIVE, AND STAY HEALTHY!

Sincerely,

Dario Sforza, Ed.D.

Dear Becton Regional High School community:

I hope this email finds you remaining healthy and safe. I am writing to update you on a few important school related items.  First, please be reminded that school will be closed next Monday, January 18, 2021 for the observance of Martin Luther King Day. Also, marking period 2 ends January 22nd, which means that any fully remote/virtual student who would like to opt back in for in-person instruction may do so beginning, Monday, January 25th, the start of marking period 3. A separate email/survey will be sent to all remote/virtual students only to indicate their preference of learning, in-person or remote/virtual, for the third (3rd) marking period.

We will be administering the PSAT to all 11th graders (Juniors) on Tuesday January 26th. Therefore, on January 26th we will operate on a fully remote/virtual asynchronous schedule for all 9th, 10th, & 12th grade students.

  • Wednesday, January 13th & 14th = School Picture Days
  • Monday, January 18th = School Closed- MLK Day
  • Monday, January 25th = Marking Period 3 begins. Remote/Virtual Students may opt back in for in-person instruction at this time. Must indicate so on the survey.
  • Tuesday, January 26th = PSAT Administration for 11th grade students. All 9th, 10th, & 12 graders will operate on a fully remote/virtual asynchronous day.

As far as Covid cases, we were recently informed that two members of our Wildcat family tested positive for Covid-19. One of the two is completely remote/virtual and both have mild symptoms and are recovering well at home. Neither of the cases have school-related close contacts. Since neither of the cases are due to an epidemiologically linked school-based transmission of the virus, there is no change to our school schedule due to Covid-19 reasons.

With that being said, we have had a great start to the new 2021 year and are proud to report that we had no “holiday outbreaks” as some other school districts may have anticipated when making the decision to close their schools following the holidays. Once again, this is because of the diligence of our school community to stay home when they are not feeling well as well as helping us keep our school doors open by taking proactive steps to mitigate the spread of the virus.

As always, feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions.

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY AND, AS ALWAYS, THINK POSITIVE, STAY POSITIVE, AND STAY HEALTHY!

Sincerely,

Dario Sforza, Ed.D.
