About Us

Becton Regional is a four-year comprehensive high school which strives to meet the general and individual needs of the students and the communities of Carlstadt, East Rutherford, and most recently Maywood.  The district provides education to approximately 700 students during the 21-22 school year, 770 during the 22-23 school year, and 850 during the 23-24 school year.  A variety of subjects and programs are offered in order to prepare students for continuing education or employment beyond high school.  Through an expansive curriculum, extracurricular activities, counseling and special services, and more, our school assists each student in developing character and lifelong skills and achieving his or her goals.

DISTRICT GOALS 2022-23

1. The Carlstadt-East Rutherford (Becton) Regional Board of Education will conduct a strategic post-referendum review of the Becton Evolution Campus Expansion plan which included a robust special services program as well as varying career, STEM, technology and numerous hands-on trades-focused programs. The vision and goal of the Becton Evolution will continue to directly benefit students from Carlstadt, East Rutherford, and Maywood for the foreseeable future. The review will include meetings with various stakeholders and professionals within the three communities we serve as well as preparation and a plan for a potential second referendum vote in the future.

2. The Carlstadt-East Rutherford (Becton) Regional Board of Education will review details of its most recent QSAC performance review and work with administrators and teachers on identifying instructional areas for improvement and growth and providing appropriate resources where necessary. This will be done, in part, by continuing to apply and leverage all available state and federal funding and grants in order to supplement and enhance our academic, co-curricular, mental-health/wellness-social emotional learning and school infrastructure resources and programs due to potential losses as well as academic learning and social gaps from the past three years.

3. The Carlstadt-East Rutherford (Becton) Regional Board of Education will leverage underutilized space in the media center and transform it into three additional classrooms, two of which include a flexible partition wall should the classes need additional space in the outside media center, one district-wide seminar/conference room and two of office spaces to accommodate the influx of students and staff from the Becton-Maywood partnership. All classrooms, office spaces, and seminar/conference rooms will be equipped with new and updated flexible furniture and storage for students and staff.

4. The Carlstadt-East Rutherford (Becton) Regional Board of Education will leverage underutilized space in the music wing and transform one classroom into three additional classrooms, two which will include a flexible partition wall for future growth of the music and performance arts program, as well as an added classroom and server room to accommodate the influx of students and staff from the Becton-Maywood partnership. All classrooms, offices, and seminar/conference rooms will be equipped with new and updated flexible furniture and storage for students and staff.

5. The Carlstadt-East Rutherford (Becton) Regional Board of Education will start and complete a major technology upgrade of all its physical infrastructure, security cameras, door access controls, environmental sensors, server system, and wireless. This project will be executed in order to replace outdated technology infrastructure, expand bandwidth to every area of the school campus, and equip our regional district with the most advanced safety and security system out on the market.

6. The Carlstadt-East Rutherford (Becton) Regional Board of Education will work closely with the administration to continue to effectively staff the school district with new, diverse, and highly qualified personnel, inclusive of a new School Business Administrator/Board Secretary and up to three new internal District Supervisory positions, in order to properly run the district due to the historic 2020 merger with Maywood Public Schools and the influx of students from last two years, this year, and the final year of transition next school year. In addition to staffing, the district will also create a robust mentoring and sustainability program for all new staff hired within the district the past 3 years.
